Today, we are facing a situation in which the inheritance of outstanding traditional culture and crafts recognized around the world is in jeopardy, while at the same time, one in every nine children is facing the reality of relative poverty. We see these two issues not as independent but as closely linked missions.
Encountering traditional culture and crafts is a valuable opportunity for children to develop their creativity and pride as Japanese people. At the same time, nurturing the next generation of leaders is a sure path to weaving Japan's cultural values into the future.
